Phonecasting
ipadio combines the telephone with the blog to create an audio “phonecast” which is streamed Live to the Internet. You can phonecast from any phone, anywhere in the world - no need for a computer or even access to the Internet. Phonecasts can be cross-posted to social media and blogging platforms, embedded on any number of websites, or securely integrated with corporate databases and CRM systems. Phonecasts can be converted to text, geo-located and put on a map, and either streamed live or moderated (plus about 100 other options). As well as making phone blogging an easy means of communication for people around the world, this combination - the flexibility & power of the Internet plus the reach & simplicity of phones - has made ipadio ideal for business communications and operations.
ipadio is at the heart of a telephony and web revolution, with subscription clients including Amnesty International, Virgin Media and The Vodafone Foundation. As well as ipadio's technology, which combines the power and flexibility of the Internet with the reach and simplicity of phones, ipadio dedicate ourselves to excellent customer service. ipadio is used worldwide by corporations, government, media and sports bodies, as well as by individual campaigners, fundraisers and bloggers.
Case Study: Guinness, Facebook and The 6 Nations
To coincide with the 6 Nations tournament, sponsors Guinness used ipadio’s phone blogging capabilities to engage with 300,000 fans on the brand’s Facebook page. Lewis Moody, Martin Johnson and all the national team captains are regularly calling into ipadio to respond to fan questions – with their phonecasts posted directly to the Guinness Facebook page in a Guinness-branded ipadio player. This creates a much deeper level of engagement than text based communication – as fans can hear the player's voices and knew them as the bona fide article. The ipadio Facebook phonecasts have created such goodwill and buzz around the brand that recipients have been keen to share ipadio on the Guinness page with their friends and networks – carrying the Guinness brand deeper into the social network.Case Study: ipadio and Oxfam
After a magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti in January 2010, Oxfam were on the ground in hours providing assistance and relief to people living in the devastated areas. In tandem with this, Oxfam also began the fundraising operation back in Britain and America to solicit donations. ipadio provided the technology to link the events in Haiti directly to the public. Oxfam’s media officers regularly broadcast via satellite phone direct to Oxfam’s website, bypassing media filtering. ipadio broadcasts are also integrated directly with Oxfam’s other social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook and podcasts, as well as other websites who picked up the news such as Reuters & The Times. Between Jan 13th and Jan 24th the broadcasts were listened to 175,000 times. Appended to each broadcast was an appeal for donations. For Oxfam’s “Fight Poverty” Campaign, individuals could phonecast their message of support as part of an online petition. When supporters’ calls were received, they were automatically plotted on a map (using ipadio's LocationByVoice) to illustrate the geographic reach and range of support for Oxfam‘s petition. These phonecasts were played live outside major summits on Afghanistan throughout 2010. This is just one way ipadio can bring people’s voices to the forefront of grassroots campaigns.
